Eli Izhakoff

Honorary President of WFDB and WDC

In 1990, Mr. Izhakoff was elected president of the Diamond Dealers Club and immediately formed the Diamond Industry Steering Committee, an organization of four diamond trade associations in New York and served as its first president.

At the World Diamond Congress, held in May 1991 in London, England, Mr. Izhakoff was unanimously elected president of the World Federation of Diamond Exchanges (WFDB). He was unanimously re-elected for a second term at the next World Diamond Congress, which was held in Antwerp, Belgium, in June 1993. At the World Diamond Congress held in Tel Aviv, Israel, in May 1996, he was re-elected by unanimity for an unprecedented third term as president of the WFDB. After his retirement from the post at the World Diamond Congress in Bangkok, Thailand, in July 1998, he was unanimously elected as Honorary Lifetime President of the WFDB.

At the World Diamond Congress held in Antwerp, Belgium, in July 2000, Mr. Izhakoff was unanimously elected as president of the World Diamond Council and was instrumental in establishing the Kimberley Process.

Among the awards and accolades he received are: the Official of the Order of King Leopold of Belgium, the Dignitary Award for the Israel Diamond Industry, the Lifetime Achievement Award for the New York Diamond Industry.

COLIN SHAH, ex-President, GJEPC

Colin founded Kama Jewelry in 1996. 11 years later, in 2007, Kama Schachter was formed in a joint venture with Leo Schachter Diamonds in an effort to become vertically integrated.

Today, Kama Schachter is among the top ten manufacturers and exporters of diamond jewelry in Asia.

To create sustainability and a positive effect on the communities in which this company operates, it has always been Colin’s vision to make social responsibility a goal at Kama. Kama’s charitable activities include associations with the Make-a-Wish Foundation in India because Colin is on the board. This organization helps to fulfill the wishes of children with terminal illnesses. In addition to these associations, Kama is also proud to train and hire workers with some type of disability, who represent 10% of the company’s workforce. Kama is also one of the only jewelry manufacturers with 50% of its workforce made up of women.

Colin received plays a leading role in many organizations, including GJPEC India, where he is currently the President.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem is the executive chairman and executive director of the DMCC and has boosted its growth from a start-up of 28 member companies in 2003 to the main free zone in the world in 2019 with more than 17,500 member companies from 180 countries, employing over 60,000 people . DMCC was named the ‘Global Free Zone of the Year’ by The Financial Times fDi Magazine, for the record fifth consecutive year.

Mr. Bin Sulayem currently serves as president of Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) and Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX).

The Kimberley Process officially named the United Arab Emirates (United Arab Emirates) as the first and only Arab country to preside over the Kimberley Process in November 2015.

Marco Carniello

Director of VicenzaOro

Marco Carniello joined the Italian Exhibition Group (merger of Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza) in July 2016 and is the Group’s Brand Director for jewelry and fashion shows, including the International Jewelry Fair, Vicenzaoro.

Prior to entering the event industry, Marco worked in strategic consulting at Accenture and Bain & Company, and as Sales Director for an accessories and fashion company in a private equity business.

An engineer by training, he holds an MBA from IESE Business School
